What are Points?

Points Points  are a form of currency here on deviantART. You can use them to purchase commissions, adopts, trade llama/cake badges, purchase Core Memberships, and more. They are overall good to have.

Adoptables

Adoptables are collections of characters that people can buy or adopt (hence the term) and the other person automatically gains rights to that character or characters. They can pay you a certain amount of points for the adopt.

Contests

Periodically deviants will host like, 1,000 point contests where you can enter by watching them, faving the journal, and making your own journal posting it in the comments, etc. The chances vary depending on the nature of the contest, but it doesn't hurt to enter maybe 1 or 2.

Prints/Digital Content Sales

You can sell prints or digital content of your art for a set number of points. For example, if someone wanted to download something of yours they would have to pay for it.

Purchase Points

You can use PayPal to purchase points as well. Here are the options you have to choose from:

5$= 400 Points
10$= 800 Points
25$= 2,000 Points
50$= 4,000 Points
100$= 8,000 Points

Badge Trades

You can also earn points by trading llama or cake badges. On your badge page, you can see on the far right an area where you can see if anyone is willing to trade a llama for an amount of points. With these you want to keep the point amounts low (1-5 at the most) so people will want to trade with you.

Is it okay to ask for Points? Catch them points

Yes, it's okay. But not everyone will want to give you Points. Some people are very particular about 'point-begging'. Point-begging is when someone is constantly asking for points. However, some people would be more than willing to give you points. But don't be afraid to ask!

Some things to look out for

Some people will keep asking for points even after a person has run out. And they will often jump from one person to another asking for more and more points. To avoid this, look into the person's profile and see if anyone has complained. Ask them what the points are for.

Earnings

Earnings are where all of the Points you recieve from print/digital content purchases and commissions go. You won't be able to withdraw the points right away. The point amounts will be in 'Pending' status for about two weeks before you can withdraw them.
